“Bauyr” will participate at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival

Film “Bauyr” directed by Serik Aprymov (JSC “Kazakhfilm” named after Shaken Aimanov ) will take part in the Easten Block Feature competition programme of the 29th Santa Barbara International Film Festival which will be held from January 30 to February 9, 2014 in USA.
The Santa Barbara International Film Festival (SBIFF) was founded in 1985 and is dedicated to discovering and showcasing the best in independent and international cinema.
Along with “Bauyr” following films will be competing for the Best Eastern European Film Award this year: “Adria Blues” (Slovenia/Croatia/Bosnia/Herzegovina), directed by Miroslav Mandic, “Clownwise” (Czech Republic/Luxembourg/Finland), directed by Viktor Taus, “The Gambler” (Lithuania/Latvia), directed by Ignas Jonynas, “The Japanese Dog” (Romania), directed by Tudor Cristian Jurgiu, “One Way Ticket to the Moon” (Poland), directed by Jacek Bromski and “Revival” (Czech Republic), directed by Alice Nellis.
The world premiere of film “Bauyr” directed by Serik Aprymov (JSC “Kazakhfilm” named after S.Aimanov) was held in the Horizons section of 70th Venice Film Festival. Film was also shown in the international competition of the IX “Eurasia” IFF where it took two prizes (NETPAC Award and Best Director Award). Then it was screened at the Vienna International Film Festival. “Bauyr” is also participating in the Five Continents section of the 37th Göteborg International Film Festival and main competition programme of the 24th Ciné Junior International Film Festival which both held in January.
