“The Book” is participating at the Dhaka International Film Festival

“The Book” directed by Yerbol Zhumagulov and produced by JSC “Kazakhfilm” named after Shaken Aimanov is taking part in the Spiritual Section of the 13th Dhaka International Film Festival which is held from January 10 to 18 2014 in Bangladesh. The film is produced by JSC “Kazakhfilm” named after S.Aimanov.
Films from Spiritual Section will be watched by Interfaith Jury for Spiritual Films. The jury members include Samir Nasr (Chairman, Egypt/Canada), Enamul Karim Nirjhar (Bangladesh), Sanjoy Ghosh (India), Loh Chay Koon Winifred (Singapore) and Sahraa Karimi (Afghanistan).
One documentary and one fiction film will be selected at the end of the festival by the jury. According to organizers, the showcasing of films on spirituality would promote greater cross-cultural understanding and tolerance and facilitate dialogues within communities as between communities.
Dhaka International Film Festival was founded by Rainbow Film Society, which is dedicated to the promotion of a healthy cine culture in Bangladesh and in celebrating the global mainstream in film and its social relevance. During the 13th DIFF, organizers expect to screen approximately 150 films, with participation from approximately 50 countries, including retrospectives of Iranian film director Asghar Farhadi and French filmmaker Olivier Assayas.
The World Premiere of the film “The Book” directed by Yerbol Zhumagulov and produced by JSC “Kazakhfilm” named after Shaken Aimanov was held in A Window on Asian Cinema section at the 18th BUSAN International Film Festival (BIFF) which took place in October in South Korea.
