The film "Tomiris" directed by Akan Sataev won the Grand Prix at the French film festival “L'Étrange Festival”, held from 2nd till 13th of September 2020 in Paris.
This special New Genre award from Canal +, France's largest pay TV channel, assumes that the film screening right will be bought out by the channel and the film will be shown at prime time.
The film is dedicated to the events of the VI century BC and tells the story of the life of the great Queen of the steppe-the legendary Tomiris. From a little girl, she is destined to become a skilled warrior, survive the loss of loved ones, take revenge on traitors and unite the Saka tribes under her rule.
The film was shot by the “Kazakhfilm” studio with the participation of “Sataifilm” studio by order of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
