“On the Edge” feature film directed by AldiyarBairakimovhas been awardedwith Greek Film Critics’ Association award at Olympia International Film Festival for Kids and Youth. It was held within the dates of November 30 and December 7 of 2019 in Pirgos, Greece. The movie is made by “Kazakhfilm” studio due to Ministry of culture and sports’ order.
Bairakimov’s picture tells the story of two teenagers living in two differnet worlds. Suddenly their paths cross quite unexpectedly. Lack of human support, family love and social hardships push them both to a dangerous edge…
This film festival is a unique cultural event. It was founded in 1997 as a result of collaboration between local authorities and non-commercial youth organization. It is supported by the Greek Ministry of culture and the General Secretariat on Youth Issues.
First of all, the festival aims at introducing the Greek viewers to actual new films for kids and youth and at developing audio-visual educational programs for kids and youth in Greece. Also it aims at encouraging production of such films.
“It is great that our film, on top of viewers’ appreciation, gained some critical acclaim. My best congratulations for the whole team! Big thanks to everyone who helps to promote our film internationally”, - said director AldiyarBairakimov.
As a reminder, last year “On the Edge” film took part in the main competition of “Kinoshok” film festival and also was awarded with a special jury prize for best script and UNICEF award at ‘Listapad” IFF in Belarus. The movie was also titled “Best debut” at leading Kazakh ‘Kulager” cinematic awards.
