Today the head of Russian ‘Soyuzmultfilm” animation studio Boris Mashkovtsev visited the “Kazakhfilm” studio. The president of “Kazakhfilm”, Honored Artist of Kazakhstan Arman Assenov and head of ‘Kazakhfilm”’s animation department Aday Abeldinov welcomed him at the studio.
Mr. Mashkovtsev was offered a tour around “Kazakhfilm” studio’s territory and was briefed on studio’s activities. The tour started with visiting the memorial of legendary Kazakh filmmaker Shaken Aimanov. Then he was led to Stars’ Alley and other studio’s sightseeing spots: sound studios, costume department, animation department, DOLBY recording studio, the ancient Turcic city set built specially for “Kazakh khanate” historical epic.
-This is my first time in Almaty. I asked specifically for this visit to get to know how animation works in Kazakhstan. Yesterday we had a terrific meeting with representatives of local animation studios. We have watched the works of local animation makers. The main objective of ‘Soyuzmultfilm” is to find partners for the new collaborations and to expand the existing projects of our studio. I liked it a lot in Kazakhstan. “Kazakhfilm” is a legendary studio. While at VGIK, we’ve learnt about the legendary period of world cinema when Soviet film studios were evacuated to Kazakhstan. So for me this is a throwback to history, - said Boris Mashkovtsev.
Note: ‘Soyuzmultfilm” is a Soviet and Russian national studio that produces animation films. Founded in 1936, it is one of world’s biggest animation studios. More than 1500 animated films of all the genres and techniques have been created there, many of which became classics of world animation.
