“The Last Teacher” short film (directed by Alen Rakhmetaliyev) received the 2d prize at The International Short Film Festival Dostluk Kısa. The festival took place within 14 and 16 of December in Istanbul, Turkey.
The film is made by “Kazakhfilm” as per request by Ministry of Culture and Sports of RoK. It tells the story of Yerzhan, a chemistry teacher. A person of mild temper, he experiences regular misbehavior of his students. Once his son who is a student at the same school is violated by the senior students. It faces the father with difficult moral choice to make.
-Dostluk kisa film festival is a large scale festival. The works from Iran, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, France, Italy, Belgium, Sweden. The participation itself was a victory for me. It was nice to witness big respect towards Kazakh cinema from festival organizer Faysal Soysal and head of jury Yüksel Aksu. It was important to me to find out my colleagues from other countries have interest towards our cinema, - director Rakhmetaliev says.
Dostluk Kısa Film Festival is based on a concept of Friendship. Friendship towards other people, one’s own health and well-being and everything else, both visible and invisible. It strives to deliver to its viewers all types and forms of cinema that point to a friendly connection between mankind and the Universe.
