“Hide-n-seek” short film (directed by Venera Kairzhanova) was announced “best feature film” at Republican short films festival which was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of Baurzhan Nogerbek who founded the professional film criticism in Kazakhstan.
“Hide-n-seek” which was made at “Kazakhfilm” studio due to Ministry of Culture’a request, tells the story of two little girls who become witnesses of adult problems. Trying to escape this, they play hide-n-seek in the street and try to hide in their childhood world.
Earlier this year the movie received the prize for best script at Moscow Shorts ISFF’s international competition. It had also been screened during Short Film Corner of 71st Cannes Film Festival, and in main competition programs of “Eurasia-18” and Baikonyr Short Film Festival and “Bastau” film festivals, as well.
Besides, the documentary “Ancestors’ legacy” (directed by Berik Zhakhanov) received the special prize from Vosmerka.kz cinema medium – “For accurate approach to traditions of documentary cinema”.
The festival was organized by “Theater, TV and Cinema” faculty of Kazakh National University of Arts. Within two days it had shown the films from competition, meet-the-artist events with well-known Kazakh filmmakers, and held conferences, as well.
