The film “Walnut tree” directed by Yerlan Nurmukhambetov and produced by JSC “Kazakhfilm” named after Shaken Aimanov participated in the Main Competition of the 22nd International Festival of Asian Cinema Vesoul (France). It won International Jury Special Mention awards (“To the talent/flair to evoke a smile despite tough/complicated economic and political situation”) and Press Jury Special Mentions awards (“To the graphic and bold image of rural living”). The film “Walnut tree” was selected by professionals among the best Asian films to the Festival programme.
On the 24th of December in Almaty in the cinema «Bekmambetov Cinema 3D» (The Republican square 2, the shopping mall «Almaly») there will be premier screening of the documentary films producing by JSC «Kazakhfilm» named after Shaken Aimanov: «Abzal’s homeland» (film directors K. Dyusembayev and V. Tyulkin), «The worlds of Moris Simoshko» (film director A. Golovinskiy), «Saving people’s hearts» (film director O. Tastanov), «Desht-i-Kypchak. Secret signs» (film directors B. Gafu, A. Kamenskiy).

On the 31st May, at the day of remembrance of victims of political repressions, there was a premier of the historical film “Аманат” in one of the theaters of Astana “Kinopark 7 (Keruen) IMAX 3D”. This film is dedicated to the fate of the first historian of Kazakhstan and Central Asia, a prominent scholar and the patriot of his country Ermukhan Bekmakhanov, who was given/awarded a title of Doctor of Historical Sciences for his work “Kazkahstan in 1920-1940 of 19th century.
